Earlier this month, I worked at a charity event where the proceeds went towards breast cancer research. I found the whole event incredibly moving. Next month I will take part in another event, fundraising for the Alex Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF).
Did you know that this summer will mark 10 years since 8-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004) challenged the nation to help her raise $1 million for childhood cancer cures, one cup of lemonade at a time. The Foundation will once again invite volunteers across the country to host lemonade stands over the course of three days to continue Alex’s mission & bring renewed attention to the fight against childhood cancer.
National Lemonade Days started in Alex’s front yard & has grown into an annual June tradition that raises over $1 million for childhood cancer research through thousands of stands & events held across the country.
Held the weekend before Father’s Day every June, this three day event (Friday through Sunday) is open to all who want to participate by holding their own fundraising stands or events.
YOU can be a part of the tradition by holding an Alex’s Lemonade Stand with your friends, family or colleagues during the weekend of June 6-8, 2014! I am hosting a giveaway for an Alex Lemonade Stand Kit. The details are over on my Facebook page.
The Alex Lemonade Stand Kit will include signage, a guidebook & other relevant materials needed for you to host your own Alex Lemonade Stand during Lemonade Days.
So gather your family, friends & co-workers in creating your own Alex’s Lemonade Stand event! I believe that through social media, we can create social good. So please share this blog post with others if you can. 🙂
Disclosure: I received an Alex Lemonade Stand Kit to help facilitate this review. All images are mine unless otherwise noted. Any thoughts & opinions are 100% my own.
